Scared of Secondary

so after being diagnosed in June 2015, with invasive ductal carcinoma in my right breast. 1 year on and have had chemo x 8, radiation and mastectomy/reconstruction I have a persistent UTI that won't fix with antibiotics. Now after seeing a urologist, I'm to have a cystoscopy to check my bladder and uretha. Now I'm scared all over again. Logically I had a complete pathological response to treatment so you would think that there's nothing else. Just rebooked our Disney holiday after cancelling it last year. Fingers crossed its nothing, but can't help worrying. ??

  • Hi Jel,

Thanks so much for your response.

It does make me feel a lot better knowing that I am not alone. I keep trying to be logical so I dont freak myself out. Not having the Cytoscopy until 19th July. A week and a half away, I have to keep putting it to the back of my thoughts and keep booking our trip to stay positive :)

All the best to you too.

  • I will keep my fingers crossed..

And I am sure it is nothing.... When yoir immune system.is down UTI is one of the first things to go... Before BC even for me for 2 years now I have been having recurring UTIs for no reason at all. On a hot summer day severe perspiration has been neough for me to get a UTI.

Unfortunately just one of tbose things that very much aggravated when immunity is poor and I am guessing that such an ordeal that you have been going through with all BC treatments and surgeries must have buggered your immune system enough for it to trigger these horrible UTIs...

So here isn crossing fingers it is just a slow immune system.still recovering from the BC ordeal

    hugs
