Scan day freaking sucks......yet again. Probable curse words included.
With only minor trepidation and my shit mostly together I went to clinic today to get my results. I stopped to give a co worker that had just been diagnosed (MOFO BC) a hug and a shoulder to cry on for a bit while we were waiting. I heard my name called and promised her she would get through and I would be happy to help if I could in any way. She thanked me with that smile you put on when you are trying so hard not to burst into tears and your heart is aching as I waltzed on in to the doctors office.
Well the whole thing went sideways and turned into me leaving work in a shaky, teary eyed mess. My goodness this thing still rocks you when least expect it.
Here we go again with another fucking ambiguous result about the mystical eliptical thingamajjigy that has taken up residence in the rogue boob. Said thingy has decided to grow 2mm in 6 months. BIRAIDS score now moved up from a 3 to a 4 and hey lets poke a needle in it this time. This presents a problem. Considering the MRI is still the only machine that can see thingy (again it can't be felt by anyone either) and it's positioning, it is probable that a biopsy can't be done in the MRI machine. Still waiting on an answer for that one.
So do we just poke around in there and try to hit it?? Cut it out or off just for the heck of it?
No body is prepared to say it is anything sinister nor are they prepared to say it's not.
Seriously, can someone please tell me how, for the love of god, you can have 4 MRI's, 4 mammograms and 6 u/sounds in a period of 12 months and still not know what this is or isn't.
So as it sits, back to headlining the MDT on Thursday to get input from group of guru's as quote "my breast don't scan normally". Another targetted u/s on Friday. And wait for an answer on whether the biopsy can be done by MRI.
Waiting waiting waiting yet again. Fuckity fuck fuck. I am sick of this roller coaster. I want to get off and my money back.
Mental status right now = somewhere between zoned out numbness and seriously pissed off.
Strongly considering ostrich tactics at the moment.
Thanks for listening. :/

- ZoffielMember@Afraser Macavity. And when you reach the scene of crime - Macavity's not there!
Gawd, that takes me back, but what a brilliant comparison. The thing that wasn't there. We should make it a verb as well as a noun. eg: My energy has macavitied.
The possibilities are endless in the BC space. Mxx
https://www2.bc.edu/john-g-boylan/files/macavity.pdf - Hi @kezmusc
It sucks that you have been going through this. I really feel for you.
Can I ask - what are your actual options here? - kezmuscMemberOne day is right @Kmakm. Who the heck knows when that will be.
It's like a bad reality TV show.
I honestly wonder how many ups, downs, pokes, prods, and extended periods of worry and frustration one can take before they lose their shit.
I have a choice to go back to the cake people and make sure the machine that has been doing the scanning can't see it. Hopefully it's gone or got some bloody holes in it at least lol.
OR. The hospital has purchased it's own brand spanking new MRI machine so I can do it there, eliminate the other machine and have yet a 4th radiologist take a look. Fresh set of eyes maybe?
Not sure. Any thoughts? - kmakmMemberArse.
One day you'll have an answer. One day.
Big hug, K xox - arpieMemberOh dear @kezmusc ..... great that your recovery was good & good to know that 2 labs checked it all out, to be sure, to be sure!!
Bummer that BS still 'isn't sure' she hit the spot - I know what I'd be saying - and it would be all the expletives that you already have, plus some! ;) Yep, so curse away!
Here's hoping the MRI clears up the confusion once & for all ..... you could write a song about this whole episode!! grrr
Take care xxx - NefertariMemberOh Kez, what a muck up....curse away. I will keep everything crossed that the results from the MRI are good and you are doing the happy dance for real!!
- iserbrownMemberMixed results, same stuff different day for you! Perhaps the main advice from this is BCN means well but it is not her role to give out results as in this case she was right but wrong!
Best wishes for a benign result with the MRI in time
Take care - AfraserMemberIt almost deserves a name - it’s a Dodgy Brother or something of the sort. Or, if you are into TS Eliot, it’s a Macavity, the cat who was never there. What a saga of frustration! Take heart from the good information to date. And wait. Again. Intemperate language completely acceptable in the circumstances. Ditto kicking non- sentient object. Strength to your elbow and most other parts.
- kezmuscMemberHi all,
Recovery has been swift, holiday was awesome and I am left with only a minor difference from before cosmetically. She did a good job all things considered.
So after what seemed like an eternal wait, I finally have some results.
The specimens were sent to two different labs for double checking, plus the public holiday in there so that's what took so long.
It would have been nice to be told that was the hold up but anyhoo.
BCN gives me the heads up and it's NED on the pathology....wooot woot, phew. Happy dance. YAY!
So I run around telling everyone it's all good and we have a great afternoon feeling like I've dodged a bullet and everything is sweet.
But wait the surgeon still wants to see me. This is where the bubble burst.
She could not see anything, could not feel anything that appeared to be said lesion, so could only be guided by the hookwire and clip.
I have mistakenly assumed she had found it and that was what was tested.
She took three specs from the proposed area and advises that she's "fairly confident" it's the right position and it would be extremely unlucky if she'd missed the spot.
So I won't know for sure until the next MRI which they want to wait three months to do considering the amount of scans and contrast I've had over the last six months.
BOO!....not happy dance. (Add in multiple curse words of your choice here). I have used them all so be creative. :)
Thanks for listening as usual lovlies.
