Scalp

Hi everyone, hope all is doing well :)

Question - has anyone come across red pimply dots on their scalp? So sensitive and a little sore due to it being on the hair follicles. They look like the dots I got all over my back on my first ever chemo cycle, which all doctors weren't concerned over and put it down to a side effect of chemo, or I thought it maybe the steroid.

Though this time around it never really happened the week of chemo. It's now 11th day post chemo (2nd time) - sent photo to my breast nurse who spoke to oncologist again and said to go to GP non urgent and they expect it would clear up itself like last time, just to make sure it is not infected - doesn't look like it though. It's red pimply with like a little white head on it, as if it's acne.

Strange....

Many thanks x

  • @primek &@fairydust - I did read about that, but it's strange as it looks exactly like the one on my back with my first round of chemo. I am definitely going to my GP tommorrow to get it checked out. My BC team didn't seem overly concerned as I sent them photos, but better to get it checked out. I don't feel sick or have any temp.
  • Good idea to check in with your GP. Mine bulk bills . My GP saw lots of people with cancer and was very useful.
A lot of things are definitely chemo related but other health issues can also be looked at.
  • If worried you can see a GP to be sure its not folliculitis and needing antibiotics.
  • Melissa, my entire face, scalp, back and chest broke out in severe acne with my first cycle of TAC. Every other cycle I got some acne around week 2, but nothing like the first time. Before chemo I normally used to just have mild premenstrual breakouts. An acne-like rash is listed in my chemo side effects booklet that my onco gave me. We discussed my acne after the first cycle, but he was completely unconcerned and pretty much dismissed it. Hope it goes away for you & doesn't return!
