Round two

Hi All

Unfortunately today I have received bad news re my recent surgery.  My fight begins again.  Nothing but nothing will stop me enjoying my xmas though.  I am to have ct scans, bone density prior to seeing the medical oncologist and radiation oncologist in early January.  The radiation oncologist won't be happy.  When I last saw him 4 years ago he told me "Bye, we don't want to see you again - we don't like returns"  I'll be in trouble!!!!  Thank goodness for my lovely family and friends and my extended "family" of BC survivors plus of course my BCNA friends.  I haven't had short hair for such a long time so something different to look forward to.....Still a little delicate from the diagnosis ......also knowing that my good friend has been diagnosed with secondarys is a blow as well.  Looks like my working days are now over earlier than I had planned!!!!!  The hardest part of being diagnosed is having to relay the information to loved ones....it breaks my heart to make people feel sad........ I am going to try and be even cheerier from this moment onXLeonie.

    Hi agn, knew you were here somewhere, just a matter of stalking you till I found you!!!

    Ditto on everything I told you last night ..... wish I could pop up with a bottle or a box of choccies but I can't.

    I've just checked in on the blog after the Christmas rush and read your news. That's just not fair!!! I know you were so looking forward to finishing work and taking some time for yourself and instead of that you have to fight this rotten disease again. My heart goes out to you. So great to hear you being so positive. I think it's the only way to survive living with breast cancer. 

    Take care of yourself and remember now it has to be all about you. Keep us posted on how you are getting along. Even on the bad days.

    You are in my thoughts.

    Hi Leonie,

    Thanks for your update. I really hope everything goes well for you. I'm back in Bundy. Most of my family live in Rocky. We had Christmas with my Daughter in Maryborough on the 18th dec as I started Chemo on the 24th Dec.

    I have the usual flu symptoms from the chemo, tired, one down 5 to go then Herceptin and tamioxifen so at least another year of drugs to go. My hair will start to fall out soon. I received lots of caps hats and scarfs for chrissy, so prepared for it.

    We are all flooded in Bundy at the moment, hubby even having trouble getting to work and home again. Hope your horse is up high.

    Hello Chrissy

     

    So nice to hear from you.  We have just come home from Yeppoon - had a couple of days with my family.  Very enjoyable and kept my mind off things.  I hope your Xmas time was also enjoyable.   I did a lot of appointments, investigations etc last week.  Full on and very tiring.  I have now come down with a sore throat and lots of coughing.  My immune system is bugg.......ed.  It concerns me how my body will handle chemo.  My new "lump" was found on my regular mammo and ultrasound - actually on the ultrasound.  It was on the same side as my previous BC but in a lymph node right up in my armpit.  At this stage there doesn't appear to be any sign of BC anywhere else - from the bone scan.  Still awaiting the results of the body scan.  So I can probably say that I most likely don't have any secondaries.  My surgeon was very concerned as the lymph node was full of tumour and it had burst out of it - so I am prepared to be hit by heaps of treatment to catch any of the little buggers that may be lurking in my body. I have been changed over to Armidex immediately and am awaiting appointments in Brisbane with the Radiation Oncologist and the Medical Oncologist.  At this stage I should commence Radiation by late January.  I have been extremely lucky that the surgery to remove the lymph node was performed brilliantly and my arm movement is good.  My surgeon is concerned that the radiation in the armpit may cause some lymphodema but I am hopeful that I can avoid that .  I look after myself pretty well with massages etc etc.  Don't ever be worried about asking personal questions - this is where we can "let it all out".  Are you back in Bundy.  We have our "second family" in Bundy and also our racehorse is stabled and trained there.  We were hoping on going down to see all including the new racehorse but if the rain keeps up we might have to reconsider.Keep in touchXLeonie
