Round Three Done!

Day 21 - ROUND THREE

I had a dream last night that this time around the nurse would have trouble with my veins.....It was right :/

Got a vein, inserted cannula and BAM! vein decides to shrink and start a nice bruise.....thank goodness she had the sense not to keep poking around and called for a more experienced nurse to find a vein.......juicy vein found and cannula inserted without even a pinch....PHEW! That's the worst part over! Took the usual pre meds for nausea and steroid......waited 15 mins then chemo starts.

So watched some tv and talked quite a bit with my nurse while she was administering my chemical cocktail.....She has to hand push 6 large syringes of the first and second drug, then the third one is done via the drip....I now know why I get the mega headache afterwards, it's the C part of the FEC combo! So she gave me some panadol before I left.

I also got a quick run down on the next drug that will be used( the "D" part of FEC-D) for the next three rounds, but I'm seeing the Dr's on 13/4 to discuss protocol, side effects etc of the new drug before that phase starts.....

Well that's round three done! I'm officially halfway through treatment! Hubby gave me a high five on the way out and I silently congratulated myself...."you're almost there!"

So goodbye to the first phase of treatment....goodbye to the "Red Devil"! I'm home now and feeling really tired..plus I think all the outings over the last week have caught up too! But it's a good excuse to put my PJ's on and go to bed......Hopefully the side effects won't pack one last punch.....
