Round 4 - day two of Taxo (Docetaxel)

Day 2 of my first dose of Taxo and so far so good. The symptoms I am feeling so far are exactly the same as they have been after every Neulasta injection with my FEC rounds. But it's only day 2 and I usually find days 3-6 are the worst for me. So waiting, waiting.

My oncol likes to take a pre-emptive approach to my care. That's why she has had me on the Neulasta from my first round rather than wait and see how I go. She has done the same with the Taxo and prescribed me Mobic (an anti-inflammatory) to take on days 3-6, my usual bad days. She's predicting I will need it with the Taxo and wants me to get through it without too many side effects. Plus she upped my steroids for a couple of days.

I looked in the mirror this morning and noticed my lower eyelashes on one eye are gone. When did that happen? :)

Make sure that you keep a regular dose of pain relief if you get the muscle and bone pain, take time to rest, and put a "come back another day" sign on your door. If you're off your tucker, keep a bowl of chopped fruit to snack on and keep your mouth moist. It sounds really weird, but I found that a boiled egg made me feel heaps better, must be the protein. I agree with the others about drinking heaps of water from your sipper bottle. Sending you a big cuddle for the next few days, Trace ????????

  • Be careful during steroids you don't eat too much. Remember the chemo will also effect the cells in your stomach and it really doesn't need to be overloaded at this stage. I know I was ravenous on steroids so rather than eat more, I drank lots more water.

  • Will do! Good luck with round two. Hope the new med plan makes it an easier ride for you.

  • I am coming up to my second dose of D next Tuesday.....hoping it's not as bad as the first! After discussing it with my Onc, we have devised a new med plan too....

I left my eyelashes at on the South Coast, they were there when i left home! LOL! I have none at as on the lower part of my eyes and only a few stragglers on the tops. My eyebrows are nearly non existent too.The big downside to having no lashes is dry eye, use lubricating drops such as Systane. My eyes are watery all the time and even worse in the wind...but the drops do help. Make sure to keep check on the colour of the fluid that comes from your eye, if it gets thick and is yellowish get Chlorsig ASAP, you don;t want conjunctivitis....

Good luck with the rest of your treatment!
