Results: HER2 positive and seroma

Hi just got the final bit of my path results: HER2positive. I have been waiting for my ISH test results, not sure if I  would turn out to be a triple Negative or HER2Pos. So now I know which of the roads through chemo etc is likely to be mine, which is a relief.

Also have a massive seroma: 560mls aspirated on my second aspiration and I was told this may well delay the start of chemo etc. I have some painful cording as well, though only one lymph node removed. The nurse strapped along my scar, and it seems to be slowing the process quite well. Did anyone else have things that helped settle a seroma quickly?

  • I too had a seroma, I had it aspirated and lucky for me it didn't return. I was still able to start chemo on time. I too am HER2 positive so I come down to perth every three weeks for herceptin. It takes about an hour and I don't have any side effects to it either which is good. Good luck with your chemo :)
  • I can't offer any advice on the seroma or the cording, but I just wanted to say that it's a big step in the right direction, knowing exactly what you have, and that you can start to look toward treatment.I hope you can get your seroma cleared up Jessica, but as Deanne said,at least you can start your chemo with it.Take care.xoxoRobyn
  • Well you sure aren't missing out on anything you poor thing. How is the infection going? It will be what holds up your Chemo etc. With regard to your seroma, I had lymphatic massage from a Lymphodema Specialist. She also used tape (like the sports physios) to help the fluid to not build up so much. I was given her contact details by my surgeon. I started Chemo while still having treatment for the seroma. It was not a problem, the surgeon told me this was quite common. With regard to your cording, keep up your exercises, this will help. A good physio will be able to resolve the cording issue a bit quicker than just trying to do it yourself. Hope everything starts to get back on track for you soon. Deanne xx
