Hi Ladies I'm BAAAACK :)
Well that was a long day. Firstly I was really relieved as i hardly felt the needles to the nipple (radioactive stuff and dye) or the local for the guide wire. I had surgery 24 years ago to both breasts because of massive abcesses caused by mastisis. We feel that there must have been nerve damage to have so little feeling there.
I was finished an over at the hospital by 10am and 1pm on the operating table. I was to go home the same day seeing it was so early in the day, but the procedure took a little more than two hours. Not quite sure why it was longer, but they did take two nodes (possible 1 was lymph and one sentinel because they took up the dye well) and they took a large margin of the tumour (i have DD boobs so plenty to work with) I was a long time in recovery and didnt get back to the ward till 5pm and my bp was low, so I suppose it was better to stay there while my bp settled. I do not like the white stockings lol)
I have two wound sites (bugger was hoping for just one) and not too much discomfort. Managing fine with paracetamol and ibuprofen. My throat is sore this morning so I'm sipping juice and sucking on soothers.
I have a blue boob!! LOL
I see the specialist in a week or two (they were still deciding how soon as they walked out the door this morning. I managed to escape the hospital about 11 YAY!
Funny thing, my bp in the weeks leading up to the surgery was moderately high. Its back to perfect. I guess its knowing that this little sucker is out of me and the treatment next is in the hands of the gods now.
I'm so pleased to be home and to sleep in my own bed. I hate hospitals and I am a lousy patient.
Thank you ladies for all your messages of support. Between you ladies and the amazing support I'm getting from family and friends, if this could be cured by positive thinking alone, none of us would have to go through these treatments xxxx
