  • Hi @Pommy8, radium treatment continues to impact the skin for up to 2 weeks after treatment stops. I wore the mepilex for 12 days after treatment to help that.
  • Wondering if people had more of a reaction to treatment after it had stopped?
  • I had 25 sessions and used Mepitel. NO burning or redness.
The Mepitel keeps moisture in. No moisturising needed unless the dressing comes off.
It also stops friction to the skin from clothing and bedding etc.
  • Day 9 of radiation and doing ok told me be next week see burning of skin.
I've been putting moogoo on main area of my breast only been told on Friday should be concentrating under my arms and under my breast.
I can see slight redness in my arm pit and slight stinking but that's all.
Also I was going to have radiation every day for 5 weeks and been cut down to 3 weeks which is good news.
  • Thanks @Julez1958. Was this an ICON clinic. Sounds like a good thing to use. All data points to a success rate with less burning etc
  • Hi @Dazzle
i didn’t have chemo so can’t compare but most ladies say radiotherapy is much easier than chemo .
The clinic I attended in Sydney had Mepitel and strata xrt to help prevent burning I had the strata xrt and only had a bit of pinkness.
I did get very fatigued towards the end and for a couple of weeks after ( I had 28 sessions)
    Take care 🌺

  •  <3 Hi I am in Perth also. I have had breast conserving surgery and will see the specialist tomorrow for results and radiation plans. I am worried about radiation as I am on my own and kids will be working. I have been told I may be able to have  'Fast Forward' which is 7 days. Wondering if anyone knows what this is like.
@Pommy8 where are you having radiation?
  • Hi @Pommy8, 4 down which is good. Yes it is not till a couple of weeks in that you may find the skin is affected but keep up the moisturiser and fluids too. Best care to you.
