radiation cream recommendations????

Good morning to ALL my courageous, beautiful and supportive BC pals...

I am finding this a bit strange today, asking for some help..normally it is me that takes pleasure in providing some advice, support, a shoulder etc..but alas, now its my turn to ask..

I am getting organised to shoot off to the the Freemasons Hospital in Melbourne early Monday morning for (probably) 4 weeks of whole brain radiotherapy..can't wait to get it started really-zap those buggers!!!

But, i know the hair will go pretty quickly and I have been told by the docs that it is the same "sort" or radio that they use on the rest of the body so to expect some burning (of course no-one knows just how much)..i have had a local lady recommend "vege-sorb" ..sorbeline completely plant based so i thought that sounded good, but really looking for some recommendations from the professionals (thats you lot peeps!!!)  would like to be able to source something early in the week in readiness for using it..kinda like the idea my hubby could massage something nice onto my head for me....mmmmmmmmmmmmmm... ooh, sorry ladies..too much??? lol

Looking forward to what u come up with...love u all lots..take care

  • You know the old saying - Kindness is always returned.  You have been so giving and now it is your turn to receive.  Creams.  These worked marvellously for me on my body - boob, neck and back area both times I had radiation.  They all have no nasties in them.  Aqueous Cream - David Craig Professional (was given to me by the nurses but can be purchased in any chemists)  Aloe Vera gel - Plunkett's;  Natural Body Lotion - Natural Instinct (Health shops and most chemists).  I used to smother myself firstly in the aloe vera then the natural body lotion but on the worst spots with the aqueous cream because it is thicker.  Because I had to travel 30 minutes home from the clinic, I used to spray myself with the aloe vera mist (also from chemists) as soon as I got down from the table - just to cool the area.  Looked pretty funny if I forgot whilst in the clinic and had to do it in the carpark (lucky for sunvisors).  I also cooled the area down when I got home by placing cool face washers on the area before applying the lotions.  I used to do this regime at least 3 times a day.  Bit of a slippery character I was but I never got any blisters and I have fair skin.   Good luck.  XLeonie
