POST OP 1 MONTH ****WARNING POST OP PHOTO IN POST ****
Thought I'd share the healing process again. I'm so damned pleased with how I'm healing. The top scar is still rather annoying and the only bra I can wear is the Target post surgery one (its lower cut so goes between the tumour site incision and the top node incision site. Would you believe bruising is STILL coming out! I've been religiously using a lovely salve of arnica, comfrey and lavender to help heal the bruising and keep the skin nice and soft. (NOTE!! don't use arnica and comfrey on an unhealed wound) And now I'm alternating with coconut oil as well.
Today is week 4 and for those of you about to face this type of surgery, I can say that today was the day I felt more normal. Energy levels coming up, discomfort at night much less, nerve discomfort in the armpit and down the inside of the arm much less. I got a busy week at work finished (I do only work mornings so that has made returning to work easier) and I did housework! 2 loads of washing, the house tidied, dishwasher done and even baked an apple slice. It does make it easier that we our household consists of a middle aged couple and a dog.
Now it would be just lovely if this was nearly the end of my journey with just radiation to go, but the universe has decided otherwise. On Monday I find out if it's to be a wider local excision or a mastectomy. (this is due to not enough clear margin from the tumour excision) I will also have a full axillary clearance and then await to start chemo.
I'm hoping to find out if they have an idea of my start date for chemo as I want to discuss with work if I take two weeks off and come back or just stay off work. My Breast Care Nurse suggested it would be sooner rather than later, and given I work in a doctor's surgery and flu season is about to hit, I don't fancy starting chemo with a cold. Already managed to get someone's germs last week. Don't want to do that again.
Anyway, I plan on having a couple of nice moments this weekend. Some cuddle time with the grandbabies, a swim in the ocean and attend a local horse sports day. Just a few things I won't be able to do for a little bit.
