Please not something else
Well today is the first day I have had off work since boxing day and I was really looking forward to it and tomorrow being motivated to start cleaning up the house -one room at a time.
Way back in October I got notified by the government bowel cancer screening and was asked if I wanted to take part. I should have listened to my own intuition, though I thougt - sure why not. So it took some time, then I was on chemo and I thought it would be better to wait until after I had finished that which wasn't until early November. However I couldn't get around to doing it until mid December. So I sent it off only a week before Christmas, believing it would be just a formality.
Having a post office box meant the mail hadn't been checked for over a week and in there was a letter suggesting I see my doctor within the next two weeks to discuss further my results.
Great! He doesn't come back until next Monday. It is going to be on my mind for another week - wondering if it is bad, what is going to happen next - do I need the colonoscopy? Do I need further treatment? I can still vividly remember my shock from getting the second letter about my breast cancer. Being told in the letter how most women don't have breast cancer...etc The same kind of wording is in this letter. Call my superstitious, though it has been plaguing my mind since I sent it off then. I am beginning to feel that I shouldn't have gone with it.
I am not on Tamoxifen. I remember my oncologist's registrar telling me I could not start the chemo after my hormone treatment. I wonder if chemo can be given with the tamoxifen? I wonder if the two will clash? I wonder if I will need surgery - I have a needle phobia - I have just contacted my hypnotherapist to get a consultation to address this. I thought it was all over. So many different thoughts going through my head. I am crying cos I don't know what will happen next and am frightened of the possibility of more treatment.
Just when I was starting to feel optimistic about the new year. I should have known it couldn't last it is a 5 year and it clashes with my 1/8.
I am just letting it all out for now, but want to run to bed and cry. I want my doctor to come back today so I can go and see him and he can tell me that it wasn't so bad, and perhaps we should do the test again just to be sure.
Another day in hospital having a colonoscopy. Having anaesthetic. Waking up and needing someone to drive me home -not that - that - is a problem. My poor partner - wonderful partner has been with me every step of the journey with my breast cancer - now this. I don't know if I can cope with it really.
I keep having these inklings that my other breast will show up with breast cancer and I will have to have that off too. I told my partner that I will not have another prosthesis for my left bresat, I will simply go bra less and breastless. It will save so much money and I am not that vain really. Coming to terms with everything that way - even now, I don't even wear my prosthesis all the time - even going shopping I go out as a single breasted woman.
Well, no good brooding over this news until it happens, back to work - waiting on my wonderful partner cooking some chicken in the barby for lunch. I woke up late, and didn't have any brekkie so now am getting hungry and want something scrumptious to eat.
