- ZanMemberHi @Cath62 thank you for your great suggestion. I can now conclude it takes a while the meds to get out of the body. Take care
- Cath62MemberHi @Zan, see your oncologist. Most are open to helping you sort out side effects. I was on tamoxifen and was ok for about a year and then experienced terrible side effects.
My oncologist suggested a break for 6 to 8 weeks and then trying Letrozole which has been a welcomed change for the last year. While my meds were different to yours I think you could benefit from talking to your dr about a different AI.
My oncologist did tell me that the meds talk 4 to 6 weeks to get out of the body altogether. It was great not being on anything and I started noticing how good it was not being on anything after at least 4 weeks but that change was gradual. Good luck - brightspaceMemberHi Zan ...best to contact your oncologist
to consult about side effects
You can try another AI
All the best
Bright in hope - ZanMember@arpie thank you for your feedback. Actually my Onc didn't suggested for my break, I stopped it myself as I was very sick due to other reason. I have been to Anastrozole for 6 years and may will continue for couple years more if the side effects doesn't bother me much.
All the best with your treatment too. With much love. - arpieMemberSo sorry @Zan that you haven't experienced relief after 4 weeks of your break from Anastrozole ...... everyone is different & but some take longer than others to lessen the side effects. How long has your Onc suggested for your break? Sometimes it is for at least 2 months .....
How long have you been on it? Is it the only AI that you've tried so far? Maybe have a chat to your Onc about it - they may then suggest you try one of the others to see if the side effects are less.
The weird thing is, that I am on my 3rd AI - now on Anastrozole - and it has given me way less side effects that the other 2 I'd tried early in the piece ..... so sometimes it is a matter of just trying another one, til you find the one that 'fits' you. xx
take care & all the best with your ongoing treatment xx
