Peripheral Neuropathy
Hi All,
I have started this new thread because I am worried.
I am 2 months out of chemo (Dose Dense 4xAC 4xPaclitaxol) and the neuropathy in my feet is getting worse. From the balls of my feet to my toes - feel like blocks of wood!
When I sleep, I sleep o n my side with my hands under the pillow. Recently (in the last week) I have been waking up wth pins and needles in my hands and fingers. When I put my hands down by my sides it goes away, but I naturally put my hands back there again and yep, more pins and needles. Do not notice anything during the day in my hands.
By the end of the day my feet are REALLY sore, red, swollen etc. All my oncologist said (on last meeting a few weeks back) was to moisturise. I haven't been doing it twice a day like she said to, so I will increase that, but any other tips? Should I be worried that it seems to be getting worse rather than better?

- kmakmMember@JJ70 IKR?! I wish I could have taken a photo but we do NOT have that kind of relationship... My BS is an incredibly sharp dresser; wears beautifully cut suits with wonderfully paired shirt/tie/pocket square combos. Very GQ!
- kmakmMember@PatsyN Agree
- PatsyNMember@Joannie - I would have said he was 25 but I know that to become a surgeon can take 15 years, add a few years to establish yourself, but he can't possibly be over 40.
- PatsyNMember@kmakm - I like to see them (recon guys) as aesthetes, aware of their appearance.
Not a bad trait to have in someone who's making your tits from scratch.
Some of the weirdest doctors I've ever met are the psychiatrists. - JJ70Member@Sister half my message didn't send...weird!
Wrote about toasting my toes last night helping me have less discomfort when trying to sleep. - JJ70Member@Sister ouch!! Maybe there was some sort of delay in the nerves responding to your lovely morning actvities. A bit like waking up the next day after over-using new muscles (my husband is whingeing about his shoulder after chopping heaps of wood for the fire - I am so unempathetic to his aches and pains
- SisterMemberI think my doctors are all way too conservative by the sounds of things...
Re: PN At the shack I managed to walk on the beach first thing in the morning wearing only thongs with very little PN. I launched the kayak with bare feet in the ocean with no problem. Got back home at night to a cold house and woke up with the worst I've had. - SisterMember@patsyn At least you know that your dollars are helping fund his basic needs.
- kmakmMember@PatsyN When my PS visited my hospital room on a Sunday, he wore high top white sneakers, dark denin with wide cuffs turned up above his ankles, and a black velvet bomber jacket with huge Asian style dragon embroidery on the back. As he left the room I said "nice jacket". I don't know if he heard me. He's a very odd man...
