I asked the Registrar last week about alpha lipoic acid and she didn't seem to think much of it. I asked my onc this week and his response was slightly different. He said that there haven't been any studies to support it but he is aware that some people feel it makes a difference. He related it to other complimentary medicines (such as acupuncture) that he believes probably do work but only on some, so they can't be recommended as a treatment. His answer was "by all means try it if you want to". No contraindications at this point in my treatment (almost at the end of taxol).
