Pathology results IBC 83 yr old

Hi all.

i got my report after my mastectomy for ibc and it said no evidence of DIC or DCIS, no cancer in lymph nodes, 15 removed, no cancer in breast and clear margins.I wantd to ask if this is a good result and if anyone had similar results.

  • What did your doctor say? Inflamatory Breast Cancer is fairly rare so not a lot of ladies on here who would have had this experience. Deanne x

  • I think what you have experienced is known as a complete pathological response. It is great news as it means that the cancer was totally killed by the chemo that you had. This usually means that there is very little likelihood of the cancer coming back. I have found a link for you to another post about this from a couple of years ago. The lady concerned was debating whether or not to have radiation after having all the cancer killed by chemo.
