Ovaries worth Diamonds!

As I have the BRCA1 gene, my surgeon had his sights on my Ovaries which he recommended having removed around age 40. I found this a very hard decision.

I found a beautiful ring which I put on a 6 month layby, paying instalments as I planned my surgery.

The ring has a large Ceylon sapphire with a beautiful Diamond either side.  It cost me $1,000, which I could ill afford.

It represents to me my lost uterus and ovaries, and really helped me to believe I was worth something.

These organs are worth much more than diamonds.

  • I am sorry to hear about your BRACA1 diagnosis and the crappy decisions that you need to make. The removal of your ovaaries closes a chapter of your life that you may not have been ready to close off just yet.

My doctors recommended i have my ovaries and tubes removed last year and for me it was a no brainer, I was completely menopausal and had no emotional attachment to my ovaries, but I understand that was me and I am older and have moved into another stage of my life.

After my chemo my husband gave me a beautiful diamond dress ring, 3/4 a carat of diamonds set in circles  to symbals endless love. It was a beautiful gesture and I love the ring, after I finished my radiation I asked so where is my diamond this time! LOL.

    Take care
