Out with the ovaries..

Thanks NatalieK, bearlyirish and Yoga Nut for your comforting comments, I am now on the list and waiting for a visit to the surgeon.  I have not looked on the net re Ovarian removal as I did that with the TNBC and it kept me up many a night...seeing I have already gone through the menopause I hear it should be alot easier, and your comments set my mind at ease, but yea if anyone here has had complications with the surgery, I still would like to know the risks but not yet ready to surf the net for the info...lol

 

Hello, I'm TNBC , double mastectomy 12 weeks ago, in the middle of chemo.....I'm waiting for my genetics appointment bc the oncologist thinks I likely may be BRCA 1 ....she told me the keyhole surgery is really pretty quick to recover from ....I'm pretty sure there are a couple of girls online here who've had it done keyhole and found the whole thing not too bad at all . Hi, Congratulations on reaching your new status. It's a milestone to reach the end of chemo & radio. My last BC was in 2005, which after chemo I had a few months rest from treatment, then had a double bilateral mastectomy & ovary removal in the one session. I had problems following the mastectomy with infection etc, that I can barely remember how the ovary removal felt. I was a bit sore for the first few days, very bloated till the gas subsided etc, but each & every day, things were better & easier. If you have had any other stomach or any keyhole procedures, then ovary removal is certainly no worse to cope with. Having my gall bladder out was much worse. Hoping this helps you. :) Cheers. x

Congrats on your eyelashes coming back!!! For me that was better than the hair on my head coming back haha. It's great to hear you are doing well. I felt the same as you after my treatment ended. I was diagnosed at the end of 2011age 35. Anyway, Nov 2012 had a complete hysterectomy. Same reason as you. Lets just say I'm in the middle of a hot flush right now. I thought id be fine with menopause symptoms but to be honest it has been a challenge. I'm now taking natural stuff and feel soooo much better. There is help out there. You don't have to just try and tough it out. You've been through so much already and I hope it goes well for you. P.S. No periods are the best!!!
