One year today

Hi all you lovlies,  Today I felt a bit off and annoyed with everything and everyone.  I even shed a tear on the way home from town.  Then it dawned on me - one year ago today I was re-diagnosed.  Tomorrow I will step over the threshold into good health!!!! I really feel like throwing away all the tablets (Arimidex plus all the vitamins to counteract the side effects) and all the specialists, GPs and therapists.  I want to be FREE of it all. When my husband and I head off down the highway heading to my family for Xmas in Brisbane I will feel FREE  at least.  My thoughts are with those of you who are still going through treatment over this festive period. XLeonie

  • Hi Leonie and Tonya, tomorrow marks a year for me too. On December 22nd last year, I had my first mastectomy, having been diagnosed on November 24th, and had a lumpectomy on December 1st. Due to the size and aggressive nature of the tumour, ( 21mm and grade 3), it was suggested that more surgery would be needed, and so I then opted for a mastectomy. I had had a bit more time to think about the radiotherapy, and realised that I didn't want it by then. I have never regretted making that decision to have a mastectomy, especially when I keep hearing about lovely ladies like yourselves who have done the Radiotherapy, only to find cancer again some years down the track. Hope you all have a lovely Christmas. Leonie, are you still planning a trip to Sydney in January? Love Chris xx
