One, two, Cha, Cha, Cha!
UNDER CONSTRUCTION!
Day 19 - fourth fill.
What a crappy night's sleep! I
I missed out on my nap yesterday....don't know why....time just got away from me and before I knew it, it was a bit late to have one.
As soon as I lay down in bed, the litlle gremlins holding sparklers decided it was party time! My toes were on fire....I couldn't even bear the sheets to touch them and my right leg decided it would do the Cha Cha all by itself!
With no nap on board, maybe I was over tired? Who bloody knows!
Everyone has held a sparkler at some point in their life....they're pretty, you can wirte your name in the air with them....you can hear them sizzling away.....
That's the best way to describe the feeling of the nerve pain I had. Imagine that sizzling sound turned into a FEELING and BAM! you got what nerve pain feels like!
Since my last chemo rounds of the Demonic Diva, Docetaxel, my toes, feet, fingertips and hands have suffered. The peeling has settled on my feet somewhat, thanks to the never ending application of creams....but the preipheral neuropathy remains.
It has been quite bearable over the last month and I thought, Yay! maybe this will go away.........But no, once again it has lulled me into a false sense of security only to ambush me in the dark of night.
I lay there in the dark, with my toes on fire and my leg flicking from one side to another.....one, two , cha, cha ,cha......bloody hell....I also now have a new neuropathy that runs along side my right knee ( I have to see the Dr about this!) and I'm sure that wasn't helping either! ......Hubby even complained this time......so I got up....
I checked my feet and sure enough they were red raw....I emptied yet another tube of cream and covered my feet with it....it did soothe the burning, which made it a little more bearable.....after a midnight snack of Weet Bix (yuck, I know, but it's a staple for me since this stupid disease interrupted my life) and by then I was due for more Panandol, off to bed I went again........checked the time....2am......FINALLY, sleep......
The alarm woke me at 5am! Hit snooze a few times, hubby went to work. Fell back into that deep sleep that you go into when you haven't had a good night's rest....you know the one you wake up from wondering what time, year and day it is......well it was only 7am....
My usual morning routine ensued....then it was time to go to my appointents for today. First up Physio.....
After getting clearance from the surgeon last week to get on with exercises, we set about putting a plan together.....first priority though is to get my arm movement back so I'm ready for radiotherapy. .... I have to be able to hold my arm above my head for 20 mins at each rads session....so a massage for 15 mins to work on the cording in my right armpit and down the length of my arm was today's physio......armed with a list of exercises to do each day, onto my next appointment..
The Radiation Oncologist.....the Professor is on holiday, so I saw another of his colleagues.....she went through all the details again....the pros and cons and got me to lay on the table the way I would have to when having rads, to show me how far I have to get my arm back....It's not as far as I thought, but I still have a lot of work to do to be able to get it where it should be!.......consent forms signed.....a tentative booking has been made for the 30/8.
I say tentative because I'm hoping my fills will be done by then and if they aren't well I can change it. On this day I will have what's called a CT Simulation. It's where they take a CT scan of the area to be treated, gather alll the data needed to work out how much radiation and mark me with tiny dot tattoos to point where the beams will be directed.....this all going to plan, I will the commence radiotherapy two weeks after.......it takes that long for the team to get my treatment analysed and ready for me.......
Another day of information....another step closer to this nightmare ending.....came away from both appointments feeling good.
Well that was my day....now with a Jamie Oliver Lamb Shoulder slow roasting in the oven, I WILL have my nap and hopefully that will help me get a better night's rest tonight.
Stay warm everyone.......sooooo cold today!
