One of those weeks
I had my 18mnth oncology review yesterday. Unfortunately my regular oncologist was away and I ended up spending three hours in the car to see a 14 year old minion. I wouldn't have bothered going if I knew that was going to happen. I really wanted to discuss the AI drugs as I am pretty much over them.
14 months on, life is not too good, I didn't think I was getting worse, but in the last month I've developed achilles tendonitis, which on top of persistent neuropathy in my feet is more than irritating. Off to the podiatrist who, predictably wanted to sell me orthotics. That whole performance cost over $200 buck, after the chronic care subsidy.
Now I have some shitty thing happening in my 'bad' arm that feels very much like cording except my skin is also so sore i can't bear anyone touching it. That's moved from my wrist upwards in two weeks, if I have to extend my arm I help and it feels disgusting. The minion thought it might be nerve damage but because my arm in now swelling it's off to the lymphoedma crew on Thursday. What's the bet they want to put me in compression garments.
I've lost my casual job--a combo of the business not having enough work for me and my being too slow to be hired out by the hour. My brain is porridge and when I could work through things in my own time then bill for what I thought a normal person would I could fudge it. Not when I'm temped out and have to work in someone else's office..to top it all off my blood pressure has become such a concern (wonder why) that I need to wear a twenty-four hour monitor. They really hurt when they need to get up over 170 to get a reading.
Sigh. Sorry for the rant, but this is not the way I thought things would turn out.

- arpieMemberDarn! Thinking of you bigtime @Zoffiel
well done on your goodie pack! Make sure there are ear plugs and an eye mask as well. ;) xxx - SisterMemberUgh! Fingers and toes crossed for you. Glad the hound is being doted on elsewhere.
- kmakmMemberGargh! You're a good scout M, hang in there. K xox
- EastmumMemberWow @Zoffiel here’s hoping they finally get to the bottom of it all and sort you out! I’m sure it feels so much better to be prepared. Fingers crossed for you! Xxx
- Kiwi_AngelMember@Zoffiel u r going through the ringer at the moment! R u waiting for the community nurse to come and check on u? I hope u don’t have to go in again but I couldn’t be more prepared if u have to.
- ZoffielMemberI'm prepared this time @PatsyN I brought my own stash of sleepers from home so if I'm incarcerated again I'll deal with a few issues myself.
I've also got a small Esky in the car with fruit, yogurt that isn't sweetened, nuts, decent tea, tinned tuna and packaged cooked rice. If I go in, it comes with me.
It now appears there is some sort of thrombosis behind the whole shitfight. Hope not. It's a raving pain in the arse. The Hound has gone on holidays so I don't have to stress about her or the possums, who have come off second best in the past (there is a great deal of fur on a possum, it's better it's attached to the animal)
How great that your neighbours cook for you, and the food looks fabulous. Some of mine are also lovely people, but I'd fear a diet of bangers and mash if it was up to them to feed me. - tigerbethMemberFingers crossed @Zoffiel ,wishing you all the best ! xx
- ZoffielMemberWaiting for a review. Here's hoping, but I think this may not be over.
- PatsyNMember@Zoffiel - I posted my situation on Facebook once I went bald and it was obvious to all. I told everyone that I would not be leaving the house other than for medical reasons for the next 6 months. I then invited all and sundry to come round for a visit - but not before midday. I accepted many people back into my life and ditched a few others (I'm totally non-confrontational so no one is aware of their status, i.e. I'm a big coward).
After 12 months of treatment I have the entire street still cooking for me. I love my neighbours and am so grateful for all that they've done for me. None of us are Facebook friends because we see one another every day.
My big mouthed Staffie cannot kill a rat (he's tried but they always get away) and I'm terrified what a possum might do to him!
How did you stop from laughing when getting a lecture about the dangers of addiction. I have a spiel that goes along the lines of 'I think you will find blah blah, speak to the head of pharmacology blah blah, give me the pill bitch or I'll find someone who will'! It's the only time I can assert myself... - PatsyNMember@kezmusc - 65 kgs, OMG. I'm only 42 kgs and my 22 kg staffie can knock me to the ground...
