@Zoffiel - I posted my situation on Facebook once I went bald and it was obvious to all. I told everyone that I would not be leaving the house other than for medical reasons for the next 6 months. I then invited all and sundry to come round for a visit - but not before midday. I accepted many people back into my life and ditched a few others (I'm totally non-confrontational so no one is aware of their status, i.e. I'm a big coward).
After 12 months of treatment I have the entire street still cooking for me. I love my neighbours and am so grateful for all that they've done for me. None of us are Facebook friends because we see one another every day.
My big mouthed Staffie cannot kill a rat (he's tried but they always get away) and I'm terrified what a possum might do to him!
How did you stop from laughing when getting a lecture about the dangers of addiction. I have a spiel that goes along the lines of 'I think you will find blah blah, speak to the head of pharmacology blah blah, give me the pill bitch or I'll find someone who will'! It's the only time I can assert myself...
