One of those weeks
I had my 18mnth oncology review yesterday. Unfortunately my regular oncologist was away and I ended up spending three hours in the car to see a 14 year old minion. I wouldn't have bothered going if I knew that was going to happen. I really wanted to discuss the AI drugs as I am pretty much over them.
14 months on, life is not too good, I didn't think I was getting worse, but in the last month I've developed achilles tendonitis, which on top of persistent neuropathy in my feet is more than irritating. Off to the podiatrist who, predictably wanted to sell me orthotics. That whole performance cost over $200 buck, after the chronic care subsidy.
Now I have some shitty thing happening in my 'bad' arm that feels very much like cording except my skin is also so sore i can't bear anyone touching it. That's moved from my wrist upwards in two weeks, if I have to extend my arm I help and it feels disgusting. The minion thought it might be nerve damage but because my arm in now swelling it's off to the lymphoedma crew on Thursday. What's the bet they want to put me in compression garments.
I've lost my casual job--a combo of the business not having enough work for me and my being too slow to be hired out by the hour. My brain is porridge and when I could work through things in my own time then bill for what I thought a normal person would I could fudge it. Not when I'm temped out and have to work in someone else's office..to top it all off my blood pressure has become such a concern (wonder why) that I need to wear a twenty-four hour monitor. They really hurt when they need to get up over 170 to get a reading.
Sigh. Sorry for the rant, but this is not the way I thought things would turn out.

WHY PADDY'S NOT AT WORK TODAY (Excuse Note)

But the gaffer wasn't very pleased, he was an awful sod
He said I had to cart them down the ladder in me hod.Well clearing all those bricks by hand, it seemed so very slow
So I hoisted up a barrel and secured the rope below
But in my haste to do the job, I was too blind to see
That a barrel full of building bricks is heavier than me.So when I had untied the rope, the barrel fell like lead
And clinging tightly to the rope I started up instead
I took off like a rocket and to my dismay I found
That half way up I met the bloody barrel coming down.Well the barrel broke my shoulder as on to the ground it sped
And when I reached the top I banged the pulley with me head
I held on tight, though numb with shock from this almighty blow
And the barrel spilled out half its load fourteen floors belowNow when those building bricks fell from the barrel to the floor
I then outweighed the barrel so I started down once more
I held on tightly to the rope as I flew to the ground
And I landed on those building bricks that were scattered all
around.Now as I lay there on the deck I thought I'd passed the worst
But when the barrel reached the top, that's when the bottom burst
A shower of bricks came down on me, I knew I had no hope
In all of this confusion, I let go the bloody rope.The barrel being heavier, it started down once more
And landed right on top of me as I lay on the floor
It broke three ribs and my left arm, and I can only say
That I hope you'll understand why Paddy's not at work today.- Between the minions and the Cosmic Clowns @AllyJay I'm pretty much convinced we should rely on our own judgment and worship the great god Murphy.

- I had cellulitis too @Zoffiel a few weeks after I had an axillary dissection. Have no idea how I got it either, it’s just one of those things evidently. I spent four days in hospital on iv drip and then home with another course of abs. No temps, no other symptoms, just redness and heat.
That was back in January this year and I’ve had no further problems.
I hope the same will be with you. Wishing you a speedy recovery. M I'm about 20kms away @arpie Let's hope it doesn't come to that--I've only got one decent vein left and I can do without having a drip in it for 24hrs.

- So sorry that your are going through this @Zoffiel - hope that the antibiotics work quickly and give you relief. It sounds as though you caught it early, so hopefully it will clear up just as fast! Big hug. xx
- :( :( :( Bugger Bugger Bum! How far are you from a hospital, @Zoffiel? A buddy was diagnosed with cellulitis a couple of years ago & it was a nasty thing, taking some time to get rid of - he had to have his ABs thru a drip.
Sending big hugs & XXXX to you ...... fingers crossed the oral ABs do the trick xx - Cellulitis. Shit shit bugger! Sent home with antibiotics and strict instructions to go to the hospital if I start spewing. Fanfukntastic. No idea how the infection got in but that is irrelevant. Aaaarrrggghhh!
