One down!!

Well I had my first chemo yesterday and can't believe how well it went. I have had hardly any side effects so far and those I have had have been very mild. I even went to work today. Just hope it continues to go this well.

Thanks to the advice and support of all you wonderful ladies I think I was well prepared for yesterday, although the nerves did kick in when I first arrived. The nurses there are wonderful and made me feel comfortable very quickly.

So that's one down, five to go and as a lovely new friend said to me the other night...I can do it :)

Cath xx

  •  <3Thanks Margieone. First post for me. Just trying to navigate my way around this awesome site!
  • That’s aawesome that you’ve been feeling so good. Fingers crossed it contimues for you @Sandrade. I lost weight too during chemo. 10kg in fact so that was one of the perks. I so hope your chemo treatment continues to be manageable. Biggest hug. Margie. X
  • I'm on day 10 of my first cycle of AC chemo. All the side effects have been pretty manageable so far. Had a really blah day on day four when the sore throat kicked in. That has eased now and have had heartburn the last three days. I am 62 and work full time but managed to go to work all of last week and walk my 10000 steps with a friend twice last week. I have three more AC to go and then 12 weekly taxol before surgery. My appetite has been really good but craving hot potato chips of all things! I have lost a kilo in a week! I'm having the day ten blood test today to check the immune system. I am still not quite believing this has happened to me as I feel a lump the size of a small lemon in my breast that grew in a matter of weeks! (The Ki67 index is at 85%).
  • hi dette, just remember after monday it is one down. whoo hoo. do every thing the oncol nurses tell you and rest when tired. if you want to cry .then cry if you want o scream do it.

i can remember my first chemo i was scared shitless.having seen what my mum went through 35 yrs ago i thought i would suffer the same. but it is so different now.

i was fine with the first one but crook after the rest but hey here i am fours years later.living proof that as awful as it is we do survive it.

dont be hard on yourself. it isnt easy i wont lie and some of us dont have a great time where other s breeze through it. (not me) but remember it is helping you to get well again. life will be different but it is life. still try to enjoy you birthday  buy your self a little gift as a reward . will be thinking of you xx Fran
