Onco / Radio Onco appointment

Hi everyone

I'll having an appt with Onco (1st time) tomorrow in the Hospital, however I got a phone call from the Hospital this morning and arrange another Radiation Onco consultation appointment next Tues.

I am pleased they take care of me, but could anyone remind me, what sort of question I should ask

I believe for tomorrow Onco appt, the Onco will go through in detail again with my surgery result and propose me the treatment schedule with Chemo/Radio/Herceptin/Tamoxifen.....

So, what about the Radio Onco, could anyone give some idea please..............

You both saying "crystal clear" to me.  It's exactly what the Onco appointment today.

Dr Islam was so patience to explain in detail my situation, and very very detail (I have to say very very twice, he really did) of the Chemo schedule (Docetaxel, Carboplatin & Herceptin); pre-chemo, and during chemo.

I also meet the BC nurse, and follow more info to well ready for upcoming Chemo.

I need to have a Heart Outrasound scanning and blood test prior the Chemo

It will take 6round in every 3weekly.  Herceptin itself will continue for 1 year, together with Radiotheraphy for 5-6weeks, after all Tamoxifen for couple years.

I feel much clear when meeting with Dr Islam, the Onco today.  Seems to me picture is much clear, and date is closer, schedule is on.................................. like a project, but everything is on the track.

I have to go tomorrow for heart outrasound

    5Mar for blood test; 6Mar pre-Chemo appointment.

    Busy busy...................

Oh yeah forgot to say, I visited Cancer Council as well, and got a wig and 2 heads.  Jennie was such a wonderful lady, she spoiled me and let me choose and messy all around (sorry); she also encourage me to go back anytime I like to change the style.  Big kiss to her.

    Thanks everyone,

  • I agree with Deanne. They will give you all the information that you need to know, but take a notebook and pen with you,so if there is anything that they only tell you, then you can make notes. All the best for tomorrow Rosanna. You have waited a long time for this! Cheers xoxo Robyn.Remember to let us know how you get on.
  • The medical oncologist will go through your chemo and Herceptin schedule. They will give you info about the chemo you will be having and what side effects to expect. They will also explain about getting your blood tested before each chemo to make sure your blood count is ok. They will also give you prescriptions for any medications you will need and explain when you need to take them. My oncologist wrote down the info about the medications for me, as it is so hard to remember everything. I kept a written diary of any side effects I had so that the oncologist could adjust medications to help with these. One important question would be what to do if you have a problem after your chemo. I was given 2 phone numbers to ring if I had a problem (eg vomiting more than twice, getting a temp of 38 or more). The radio oncologist will go through what happens when you have your radiation treatment. They will tell you at what stage you will need to have your planning appointment. This is usually just before your last chemo session. It will be a while before you start radiotherapy so you will get more info and another chance to ask questions closer to the starting date. Hope your appointments go well and good luck for starting chemo. Take care. Deanne xxx
