not sure about

I am looking for information from anyone who is taking Arimidex (anastrozole).  Because of my age, I live alone, my tumour was small 13mm and low grade, whether or not I want to take this tablet.  Reading the side effects, I am not sure in my case it is worth my while to do so.  I watched what a chemo tablet did to my husband- not good at all. So please if anyone out there can help me with info, it would be very much appreciated.  Narsan.

  • Hey i have been on it since January. I get hot flushes and some joint pain mainly first thing in the morning and manageable.

I recently had a bone density test and now on vitamin d and calcium tabs.

  • Hi Paulan, I am a lot more concerned about the effects to bone density, and fractures, especially as I live alone.  I am still like you trying to figure out what is best for me. Good luck with your decision. Narsan.

  • Hi Narsan Im due to start this meciation soon & feel exactly the same way you can. I went thru early menopause with no symptomns at all. Apart from the potential side effects listed the one that bothers me is the hot flushes (Iv been going from badly shivering to sweating & boiling hot for about 2 wks. Don't know why Im putting it down to stress.) And I don't think I could put up with that for 5-10 years. If it does happen I am considering not taking it. Will just have to cross my fingers & wait & see. Paula
  • Hi Cosette,

Yes I have and they have given me their opinions, but I still have reservations in my circumstances, as to whether it is what is really best for me. That is why I would appreciate some of the other women giving me their personal opinions of how they have coped with the side effects that they have experienced.

  • Thanks Cate, how long have you been taking Arimidex?

  • Hello,

I am taking Arimidex& apart from the hot flushes I have suffered no other side effect.

  • It's always a personal decision. Have you talked to your medical team about your concerns?

  • Thank you Cosette, but must say has just made me more anxious than ever. Narsan.
