Nose still running
I finished my taxol regime and am now on my lifetime supply of targetted therapy drugs. My nose is running constantly. I am regularly putting on calendula cream to stop the soreness/rash. The first time around in 2018 the nose running stopped after treatment but this time no such luck. Has anyone any ideas on how I can stop or at least reduce this? My Onco just shrugs her shoulders and says "that's normal". I though maybe a couple corks but if I sneezed it would get messy! I talk to people with a hanky on my nose to prevent the embarrassing drip. Cooking a meal is a challenge. Fortunately it doesn't continue when I am asleep. Maybe I just need to wait a bit longer. I only finished up taxol five weeks ago. Any suggestions appreciated. Even if they are nonsensical.

- HM2010Member@Blossom1961 there is a really good nasal spray called nozoil, it has really helped me with all the symptoms mentioned above. Chemists sell them. Good luck
- cranky_grannyMember@arpie i have the setup there for when i cant breathe too well. Thankfully not too often.
- arpieMemberIt's not very pretty - but a lot of people with runny noses (from covid, colds, flu etc) are using the Salt Nasal Sprays ... like this one. It clears all the mucous out of your sinus ... lean over the sink to do it. they are about $10-15 for a set
It comes with small sachets of salt, which, when mixed with slightly lukewarm water & squeezed up one nostril (it goes thru your whole sinus & out the other nostril) .... and has been shown to reduce covid symptoms too (which makes sense, as it is getting rid of the 'infected mucous' at least daily ...)
Doing it at night would make more sense - as that is when you 'inhale' the mucous into your lungs, causing the cough ...
- cranky_grannyMemberIm using aerius liquid 10mls. It is working on the river running down my throat at night and also helps with the itch reaction i have to ibrance. I don’t get so crusty with it like i did with clarentyne and demazine.Good luck. Mine did ease off compared to the original onslaught now only needing to take at night. And like Afraser i am highly prone to hayfever. So the leaking just varies depending on the season. When the hay fever joins in i hit up the stringer stuff. I’ve found the pharmacist is great as long as they know what medication your on they usually know what you can and cant have.
- Christabel03MemberOh wow so its not just me! I have had the drippy nose forever....or at least it seems like it and it doesn't seem to want to stop at all. Have tried Claratyne but it hasn't done thing. I'm just so used to having tissues in every pocket every bag etc etc and I just try to limit sniffing and snuffling in public!!
- ZoffielMemberThat may improve, Bloss. Sniffing and blowing are irritants in themselves which switch on a histamine reaction less sniffing, less leaking. Fingers crossed.
- iserbrownMemberMy sisters Specialist suggested Cetirizine
Works well for her - Blossom1961MemberThank you. I have tried antihistamine for the past two days now. The running has become spasmodic but when it runs it is an Olympian. At least I get breaks.
- ZoffielMemberYou'd need to ask 'The Team' but I seem to remember a post from long ago to that recommended our old friend Loratadine as a possible solution for irritated sinus. It's a basic antihistamine worth $1 a pill, so if it's ok with the folk who don't give a shit how miserable you are...Mxx
- arpieMemberThat would be so annoying, @Blossom1961 - and embarrassing too. :(
I am just thinking perhaps you could try some 'drying up meds' - like a low dose antihistamine (if you are able to take them? Check with your Onc/GP first?)
Maybe a cream/ointment wth some lanolin in it as well? It sticks on really well.
take care & all the best xx
