New to this

Hi, I hope you all are having an ok day and there is something nice in it for you.  I had lumpectomy and sentinel node removal last week and I return to surgeon tomorrow for results.  I don't know how you prepare for this part.  Since diagnosise, 3 weeks ago, I've felt vulnerable and quite fragile while continuing to attend to life fairly normally.  To quote my sister, this is a 'game changer' and it seems my wish to flick back my  to life before won't happen.  I've been fairly selective in who I've told and at times can feel quite alone although my husband and close family are supportive.  So I thought I would give this a go.

Take Care

  • Welcome to the site we were all new once. This site is safe to vent and ask questions we have all travelled the trip in some way. At first I told few at work but when I knew I needed chemo I got my boss to tell everyone at once. Most didn't know what to say but I felt very supported at work as I worked off and on during active treatment.A diary is always a good idea as the appointments are many.

    Good luck todayxx

  • Hello

I felt exactly the same.. Diagnosed July, mastectomy August & I will start radiotherapy in October- nipple margin was less than favourable unfortunately??

I have told family but limited who I have told at work ... I think that is because I don't want to be pitied ..

Nope , can't flip life back to "before diagnosis " either??

This site does help- it is always there and some one will always "talk" to you. Definitely take one day at a time.

All the best for your results??

Hi Melvery, and welcome to our network. It's a safe place to vent and seek advice and support with people in your same circumstances. Make sure that you keep in touch, as we all care and understand. It is overwhelming, and I agree with Maryrose, take it one day at a time / one appointment at a time and it will be less daunting. It certainly places you in the position where you review your life and have to make some tricky decisions. Hang in there and keep checking in with the network for support and advice along the way. Sending you a big cuddle, Trace ??????

  • Hey there. We have all been where you are now and you are never alone here.

Its all so overwhelming but if you take things one day and appointment at a time you will get through it. Dont look too far ahead although i would highly recommend getting the my journey kit as there is lots of valuable info in it. Hope things go well with your diagnosis and stay positive. Take care ??
