Hello

I was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma Invasive at the end of July 2006. I had a Right Mastectomy early in August.. My tumor was hormone receptor positive and I had 9 lymph nodes removed, I had a clear border and normal tissue surrounding it this is what my doctors told me. I have chosen not to have my right breast re-constructed.

No raidotherapy required only chemotherapy. I participated in a clinical trial
(I C A N D O). This required 8 courses over 16 weeks finished by December 23rd 2006.  January 2007 began taking Femera Letrozole. This medication has given me bone grief and hand and feet issues. I learned to adapt to the bone grief, my hand issue cleared up after 12 months but I am still bothered by feet issues but my doctor says this is very normal?

In 2009 my bone density began to diminish too fast so my doctor has prescribed Zometa Infusions twice yearly. This is my journey and I welcome any questions and the oportunity to share in other journeys. Warmest Regards Veronica

    Finished radiation treatment. How do you not think that every pain, cramp is cancer?

    Hi

    My name is Sondra, I started to write this before but I think that I did something wrong with the sending, so if you get this twice I am sorry for this.  I have had 7 treatments of Zometa and been on femara for 7 months.  My cancer was discovered in September 2011 and left breast removed and 13 nodes removed.  Have had 6 chemo and 6 weeks of radiation which finshed at easter this year then the Zometa and Femara started.  I guess I have a long way to go before the aches really start with the Femara, I do a lot of rubbing the joints and take the pain killers.  I have a spot on spine and one on a rib, have scans every 3 months and see the oncologist at this time.  So far they have not moved or got any bigger, so here's hoping this treatment keeps things at bay for sometime.  Breast surgeon has cleared me for another year before I travel to see her again. I live up in North Queensland and get my treatment at Rockhampton nearby.  Hope all is well with you, Regard Sondra

    Hi Audacious V, I am also a new member.  My initial diagnosis was on 19 May 2011.  I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy on 31 May and will be seeing my surgeon next Wednesday to find out the details of the pathology tests from the operation.  I should also find out then what future treatment may be required.

    Hi Audacious V, I am also a new member.  My initial diagnosis was on 19 May 2011.  I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy on 31 May and will be seeing my surgeon next Wednesday to find out the details of the pathology tests from the operation.  I should also find out then what future treatment may be required.

    Hi, I am also a new member. My initial diagnosis in Dec '08 was Advanced Breast Cancer (spread to my bones). I had a full mastectomy with removal of all 14 lymph nodes. 11 nodes were cancerous, so surgeon dediced to take the whole lot. I also did the chemo and radiation therapy. I am receiving Zometa infusion every month and was also placed on Femara. I took Femara for 6 months, but it also gave me sore joints, especially in hands and wrist. Oncologist has taken me off Femara for a while, to see if joint pain eases, then he will start me on another therapy. Unfortunately, have been off Femara for 3 months now, and havent noticed a difference in the soreness in my wrist. I guess it is still early days, so I will just wait and see what happens.
