New diagnosis

Hi ladies, I am 41 with 2 perfect children 16 and 21, and the worlds most devoted husband. I was diagnosed a few weeks back with 2x grade 2 tumors, and her2 positive plus pos and neg for hormones reception. I have had 1 surgery (lumectomy) but did not get clear margins on the tumors, but nodes were clear. I am waiting on the second surgery followed by chemo and radio. I have a very supportive network of friends and family and fortunate to have some sick leave available from work. We find the waiting is the worst part of this so far. Information is the best part, we have done hours of research which helps us. Then finding this site and to be able to read your experiences has been great for me, usually in the wee hours! So right now I am waiting for a treatment plan and reading about your experiences with chemo, some very scary, but I certainly appreciate your honesty. I feel for you who have less support than me, I feel very lucky. You have amazing strength to have to endure this nasty condition alone, even when surrounded by others. I have got one thing to share for other large breasted women, I am a G cup and no post op bras came close, I have found wearing 3 xlarge Arh bras really comfortable and supportive.     Hi ladies, thanks for your support and comments. I have read some of your stories and previous blog posts. A mixture of sadness and courage. This is a very embracing club to be a reluctant member of. Good luck to us all. And here's to having laugh......I hope to be the happiest baldy yet! ( still a few weeks to go before chemo yet though, so perhaps I'll change my mind then). Louie

    Hi Louie, you are so right the waiting is the worst part. I found myself at times so confused with either wanting the time to fly so I could get the results then never wanting the time to come because I didn't want to hear any bad news. It is part of this crabby roller coaster ride we call breast cancer. Blog here whenever you have thoughts or questions you just don't want to share with your loved ones. Everyone here has a story to tell and it helps immensly to know you are not alone.

    Really sorry to here you have joined this breast cancer sisterhood but there are some amazing women on this site as I'm sure you have already noted!! The fact that you have a supportive husband, family and friends will be invaluable to you.

    My story is very similar to yours - I was diagnosed last March at 42 with 2 tumors in r breast. Same pathology as yours grade 2 , er + in both, Progesterone + in one and Her2 + in one.

    I had a mastectomy, radiation, chemotherapy and herceptin. I just completed my hercepting last month!!!!

    Now on femara for 5 years.

    It can feel quite overwhelminig at the beginning thinking about the road ahead - just try and take things one step at a time.

    Write down any questions you may have before you go to discuss your treatment plan and hop on here anytime to ask any questions.

    I was given so many wonderful tips to see me through each part so far and the information and advice available from all the wonderful ladies on here will really help.

    Even with amazing support it is unique to speak with someone who truely understands what you are going through!!

    So everything of the best as you work out your treatment plan Louie - one of my friends sent me this quote right at the start of my road " Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning to dance in the rain"

    With your family and friends close alongside Im sure you will be able to find some dance moves no matter the storm !!!

    I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with early breast cancer, and had my surgery only on Tuesday of this week!I think the lead up to the op. is the worst ,most stressful time, but it all went pretty well, and I am resting at home.

    I too, have had amazing support from a very loving partner, and son, and lots of other family and friends! It really humbles you to feel all that care, and helps you along. My sister has been through Breast cancer twice, and had 2 Mastectomies,so she's been very supportive and understanding.

    i know what other women feelabout wanting to exercise, but not having the energy,but I think you have to stop comparing yourself with others, and do things at your own pace. i took the dog for an early morning walk, then came home and slept for about 3 hours!

    I am stressing about when I should go back to work, and will I be up to it, i'm sure lots of women feel the same. you go through the guilts, and think you're being lazy, but you do have to listen to your body, don't you think?

    happy to join in any discussions, it makes you feel we are not alone!
