Hello all,I have just been diagnosed with hyperplasia and a polyp ( this has been removed and no cancer found) while taking Tamoxifen. Wondering if there is someone that has or is walking this path? Recovering from surgery to remove polyp, then discussions with Gyno and oncologist as to the pathology of this.

Hello Ann-Marie, I am just sitting in limbo at the moment, not sure what the future holds and not sure about what the outcome of the pathology report for the hyperplasia will be or what it will mean. Not sure about treatment, prognosis, and future testing. Any information I can find is years out of date and not Australian. I don't see gynaecologist for 5 weeks. Any information on this would be a great help. Thanks Michelle

Hi Michelle,I have also just been diagnosed with hyperplasia and will be seeing the gyno team tomorrow. I have been taking tamoxifen for 6 months and have been told to stop until I have had further tests. I understand about you being in limbo ... I thought that after finishing treatment that there would be a bit of a break before any further problems surfaced but feel like I am about to hit the medical treadmill again.Susie.

Hi Susie, I know how you feel! It is an interesting road we may have to walk.I have been taking Tamoxifen for just over three years, just seems that if there is something than can go wrong or be uncommon I seem to have to deal with it. I would be interested to know what your gyno team have to say as I don't see mine until 2/12, I am still taking Tamoxifen every day which is a little worrying ( is it getting worse every day?) Sometimes I just want to get of this merry-go-round. Maybe there are simple solutions to hyperplasia! All the best for tomorrowRegards Michelle

Hi Michelle, just an update from me ...I am back on the treadmill and on the waiting list for a D+C .. and I was just starting to get back some of my lost modesty! I am just grateful that this problem has been found and testing starting to make sure that there is nothing more sinister going on which is now always in the back of my mind. Back to the waiting game as gyno team were not willing to discuss too much until they have the D+C results. I did get the sence that is was not uncommon and there were limited treatment options ie. IUD's or hysterectomy ... hmm... back to limbo land!Susie.

Well surgery is done and dusted! Came home yesterday a few hiccups with temps twice, on lots of antibiotics and iron tablets as I have a low blood count but not enough to need transfusion. So now a time for rest. No results yet so will wait patiently.

Only a few days to go to surgery. Organised time off work ( need to have six weeks) will be in hospital for a week. A busy weekend ahead preparing.

It will be a relief to have the surgery. But I will be checking with oncologist to see if there are any other effects to expect from Tamoxifen.

I have chosen to have my surgery at the hospital where I have had my other surgeries ( 2 hours from home ), chemo and radium as I am familiar with the hospital and my way around (I could of had surgery earlier at the other private hospital). The surgery will happen on the 9/2/17, my gyno only operates every second week, he is booked up for this month and then public holidays but if there are any other complications or issues it will be fitted in.

It gives me time to organize time off work and home. So for now I enjoy Christmas with my family and make memories!

Sad furthery surgery is needed. It will be relief to have it done I expect and you can put this worry and stress behind you. Kath x

Update

Have been back to my gyno and now having surgery.

I have Simple and Complex Hyperplasia the report usually says one way or another about Atipia this is missing, Gyno says it doesn't matter as it would mean the same treatment. I am having a hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo oophorectomy and prolapse repairs (didn't know I even had this problem). Everything that is removed will then be sent to pathology for testing to see if anything was missed or if there is anything wrong with the ovaries.(cross fingers)

I cannot have oestrogen or progesterone as my breast cancer was ER+ and PR+ so no other choices. It was also my preferred outcome as I can't keep living with wondering what else will happen and when.

Tamoxifen seems to be the culprit here.

Time to put my big girl undies on and keep going forward.
