I think it helps to minimize the soreness if you do shave it. We made it into a family event with my husband doing the shaving while my daughters took photos. My 18 year old then sent the photos off to family and friends!! Even after shaving it, it was still a messy process with little short hairs falling out for a week or so. The plus side was no unwanted body hair for a few months! I am at the other end of the hair journey now with a very, very short style, nice an cool for summer, at least. It is growing back pretty much as it was before chemo only a bit thinner (i had very thick hair before so this is nice). Hope it goes well if you decide to shave it. Take care. Deanne xxx

How did you go with the Neulasta injection?

I had to do my very first injection on Xmas Eve...had a couple of hospital stays after my 2nd chemo. I live 130kms from regional hospital and my gorgeous husband does not deal with needles too well! My good pal who's a nurse lives 60km away but had gone away for Xmas..so, had no other choice but do it myself.....surprisingly it went pretty well...the nurses had given me an instruction sheet....and I feel OK about having to do it again.

Well I'm the wuss then. I couldn't do mine at all. Went to the Doctors first time to be shown how to do it but had to get my husband to do it for me after that. Just couldn't put the needle into my tummy myself. After 'one, two, three' the hand wouldn't move. I can't do my daily injections of Clexane either and my poor husband has had to put up with me being a sook every night. What ever works for you Lisa :) Good luck with it. Janey xxx

I am a nurse, so I did my own. I am actually on clexane injections after a reconstruction at the moment and am also doing my own. I was shown a video with regards to this. I agree with Deanne, you should have instructions first. It's not as bad as you would think. Some people get a friend or partner to do theirs if they don't like to do their own. I had a friend do some of mine as she offered. Good luck. Paula

I was given a DVD showing how to do the injection for the first time. It was straightforward and I had no trouble. Maybe you could get it done by the doctor or nurse for this first time and then do it yourself next chemo. Hope it goes well whatever you decide. Good luck. Deanne xxx
