Need suggestions

I have been taking Arimidex for couple of years but due to its side effects, my oncologist has advised me to switch to Letrozole and give it a try may will have less side effects. So, I had stopped taking the Arimidex before I start the new one.
Need suggestions that how long it will take my body to get rid of the side effects of the Arimidex I had stopped taking? So, I can start the new one.
Any ideas dear ladies? I will be grateful
  • Your oncologist is always the best to advise, but I switched from Femara ( Letrozole) to Arimidex to see if It would reduce a particular side effect. I just changed at the end of my current prescription. It didn’t make any difference (my dear oncologist didn’t think it would!) so I switched back after three months. I had no issues at all.
  • @Zan   I had bad side effects on both Letrozole (6 weeks) and Exemestane (6 months) & then swapped to Arimidex/Anastrozole (4.5 years) and after a few months, I noticed that there were way less side effects - so I hope that happens with your swap too.

I honestly think it doesn't matter WHICH one you try first, that it (the first one) will usually give you the worst side effects & hopefully by swapping, you'll get relief from the side effects xx

From memory, the Onc gave me a 4 week break before starting the new one ....

    All the best
  • @arpie your experience has built a hope for me that by swapping the meds I may experience less side effects. A 4 week break sounds quite reasonable gap before starting the new one. Thanks so much.

    Stay blessed
