Nearly There

Hi Girls, My first blog hope I get it right, well nearly there after a hard couple of months, began at the end of July the day after my birthday I had to have my best friend put down I loved that dog so much, Penny my Red Setter dog she helped me so much through my darkest days but she could hardly breath at the end god bless her.

I then commited myself to working 2 extra days a week which took it out of me but I got through that. I had my first mammogram and ultra sound 2 wks ago have not heared back so I think all is well thank god. I was called into hospital during this time to have my left kidney out so it was a bit of a shock that I had not heared and then all of a sudden I had a week to get prepared for the operation which I had done last Thurs and I am back home now a bit sore but thankfully I did'nt need a full op like they said I might it took only 1 hr lap, so it dosn't take as long to heal. The day before I went into hospital I had all my chemo curls cut off and my George Cluney coloured hair transformed into a brown redish colour that took my mind off it. Doing ok but will be bored at home for a month or so, carn't wait to be able to celebrate big time.

    Hi Annie,

    How are you? We have missed you. Sarah said she saw you at the dvd launch and you looked well. We are planning a Christmas lunch mid December so I hope you can come to that.

    We had such a lovely time last night I didn't want to leave! Next meet is  23rd at 10.30 so we might see you then? Hope so,

    Hi Annie, My special friend was an RSPCA reject, and the best dog I have ever owned. I have loved all my dogs, but this boy is really special. After my old Golden Retriever died about 5 ago from old age, my grown kids really wanted another dog. I wasn't so sure, but was talked into it. I thought a nice old female would be good, but this dog was a 9 month old kelpie / german shepherd and a male. I thought I was crazy, but there was something about him, and he was a quiet well behaved house trained pup. He is smart, playful and very good, and has never chewed up anything he shouldn't have. I can't imagine my life without him, and he has been my constant companion throughout this whole cancer journey. I'm sure he knows. Your kidney condition is very interesting. If it isn't working you may as well be without it, as one will work very well. I posted a blog about my thinning hair only about a week ago. Have a read, as there might be some helpful hints for you there. Love Chris xxx

    Thankyou for your kind comments yes it is hard when you lose your 4 legged friend, I must say what a beautiful dog you have is it male or female, such beautiful colour. I bet your proud of your friend.

    In answer to your question I had a large Staghorn stone in my kidney about 20 yrs ago now and I had to have the full operation done to remove it. During a full body scan this year it came up on the X rays that there was another large staghorn stone and that what was left of my kidney had shriveled up around it, so it was no longer any use as it had stopped working. It was a bit of a shock as I did'nt feel sick with it or had no idea I had it till they told me at the hospital. My other one is working 90% and I am healing quite quickly.

    On another subject I am having the same problem as you it is 6 months since my last Chemo and my hair has grown back curly but seems to be thinning as time goes on . I have a patch on one side which is'nt growing back yet It looks like  alopecia . If you hear of any good remedies let me know. I am on Arimidex for 5 yrs.

    Thankyou for replying to my blog did'nt know if I got it right. Sounds like all you girls have been having so much fun I wish I could go dragon boating. How's the coffee meetings I car'nt wait to get back into action and see you all again for a catch up. Still a bit sore but Craig and I managed to go for a meal at the club as it  is his birthday today. Went there for lunch but I was a bit sick  think I over did it too soon. Hope all is well with you ladies.

    Hi Annie,

    Hope to see you at our coffee mornings soon?  Glad the kidney op went ok.  So sad about your dog, it is just awful isn't it? they are like our kids. But better to say bye bye and not let them suffer of course.  You must have many lovely memories of her?  I just love my pets.
