nearly 12 months on

just thought I should touch base. I dont get here too often these days! Im through my 6 rounds of chemo and  28 rad's. Trying to get life back to some kind of normal. Next month is my first mammogram since being diagnosed last year. I struggle a little with getting my head in the right space and not worry about what could be. Im just trying to live in the moment.

  • Thankyou for the lovely replies ladies! I got through the mammogram and follow up consultation with flying colors! The mixed emotional roller coaster was pretty extreem for me. One minute Im in a cold sweat worrying about EVERYTHING and the next minute I was on cloud 9 with happiness.

My highlight I think with the 12 month check was seeing the radiotherapy staff and nurses again. They become such a huge part of you life. Everyone that walked past took a double look and then commented on "gosh look at you!" You look wonderful, hairs growing and your face is smiling!!"

    Such a confidence boost.

  • Hi Christie

I was quite weepy while having my first yearly mammogram & ultrasound. I was not consciously worried about there being more cancer but I still found it an emotional thing to do.

I also have a feeling of not knowing what to do next. It seems odd for life to just continue on as normal. But I guess that's what has to happen.

    Best wishes

  • You are just one of us, the emotional part catches up with after treatment.  But slowly and surely you will be better .... You are a better person now, a brave one, one that now know to look after yourself ... and lot more ...

all the best on your first mammogram - focus on the Now if you can, try to avoid the mental movies / memories.  Bring a hubby/friend etc .. don't go alone!!!
