In just afew short hours today I will go to hospital to have my surgery. I will be having a Wide local excision of the left breast and a Sentinel Node Biopsy too. It's been 6 weeks since my early bc diagnosis and although I am nervous I want the Lumpectomy over with. I hope my pathology results will be good. Will keep you all updated.

My breast care nurse gave me the cushion before my surgery and honestly they are awesome. A little banana shaped cushion that sits under your arm and cushions between the breast and underarm.
I also used it when in the car over my breast and under the seat belt.
I don't use mine anymore so if you can't get one send me your address and I'll post you mine.

Hi Donna, I slept well again so that's good, it's just that I feel alitle overwhelmed with the diagnosis and the post surgery pain. I don't seem to tolerate pain well especially my rheumatoid arthritis at times. I think every pain in my body seems to have magnified since my diagnosis so maybe the mind plays havoc too.
Where will I be able to get one of those little cushions? I think I would love to have one. It wasn't offered to me but I did receive the lovely Bra from bcna. I will be back to see the doctor's this week for my path results so my anxiety levels are not too great either at the moment. I will be catching up with a friend today for coffee so that will be nice. Thank you Donna fo your wonderful and calming advice. I am so happy that not only have I found this site but also all of you lovely and wonderful ladies and the incredible support here. I will keep you updated.

I seemed to be the side effects queen, if there was an issue to be had I had it and sometimes still do. I too had pain and not just a little. My doctor gave me something stronger and I only took it for a few days but it seemed to get it under control then I moved to panadol. Like Deanne said, I did those exersizes so as not to cause problems and that wonderful little cushion was a god send, to be honest I think that helped more than anything.

Hi Marg, the panadol is helping but as you say I also feel where the nodes were taken. Very tender and sore but atleast I sleep well. Thanks for your best wishes and here's hoping my pathology results this week are good.

I took panadol for the first few days - but the last few days just have panadol at night as I want to make sure that I sleep. You cope better when you sleep. The pain has been receding but I think I feel where the nodes were taken the most. And I guess some things feel different as the body heals. Hope your pathology turns out well, its the waiting that plays with your head, I was happy with mine. My next step is to see the oncologist for the next stage. Good luck xx
Thanks Deanne, I will try to keep a little busy so I don't have to think too much about not only the pain but my Pathology results in afew days. I am doing the exercises as much as possible as I don't want to have movement issues, but atleast they are no too difficult todo. Thankfully I have been able to sleep well during the night so that helps my body to rest.
I have chronic ear issues and Rheumatoid Arthritis and I worry about the effects that any treatment for my bc may have on these conditions too. My arthritis has been under control with medication but with future treatment of some sort for bc I am scared it may aggravate the condition and swelling especially in my hands. Maybe I am just thinking too much about things. Silly me.
Tomorrow will be a better day. !!!
