My Surgery is today

In just afew short hours today I will go to hospital to have my surgery. I will be having  a Wide local excision of the left breast and a Sentinel Node Biopsy too. It's been 6 weeks since my early bc diagnosis and although I am nervous I want the Lumpectomy over with. I hope my pathology results will be good. Will keep you all updated.

  • Thanks Rosanna, the surgery wasn;t too difficult, and I don't have any pain at the moment. My husband cooked dinner and my parents visited me at home so all I have really done is just rest . I guess we all think ahead to our pathology results but I agree it's all about being calm and positive and eating healthy food to heal the body. Exercise I have to work on abit more.  Hopefully I can lose the 10 kgs that I need todo for my health.  Wishing you all the best too.

  • Than you Deanne, I am glad the lump is out so next week will be the pathology results, I plan to catch up with some friends on the weekend and try not to think too much. My doctor's and Nurses were fantastic in the hospital and I felt good when it was over, although I did feel rather lightheaded for most of the afternoon and this evening.

  • Thank you Marg. I came home 7 hours after the Surgery and I feel fine.  A little sore where they made the incision but at the moment I don't need any painkillers. I am resting and enjoying a bit of pampering from my family. The Nurses and Doctor's were incerdible and very understanding. I have chronic ear issues too and whilst waiting to go to theatre one of the nurses paged an ENT Doctor to check my ears over as they were hurting and one had blocked again, so I was stressing out about that instead of the breast procedure. The doctor checked the ears out and I was ready to go into theatre for my Lumpectomy.  Wishing you all the very best with your pathology results.

Don't think too much, leave that to the Specialist, make your way calm and peace. This surgery wasn't hard at all,  you'll feel pain after the surgery, but normal painkiller can help and manageable.  Next you'll have to wait for the Path report, waiting is the worst part of all.  However, during waiting weapon yourself, get ready for the treatment, you need to build up your immuse system and keep healthy yourself by doing exercise and healthy food.

Take care and good luck today.

  • Hi

I had the same last thursday - it is a good feeling to have the lump out. I am off to the surgeon today to get my pathology results so my fingers are crossed that the cancer has not infiltrated the nodes.

Good luck today - it is a nervous day with surgery but you will be fine. I was well looked after by many caring health care professionals. Everyone said how well I looked after theatre lol.

let us know how you go
