  • Dear Janey,

thank you for your kind words. I agree, I am so happy to be home but am very sore, feel weak and is scared of infection etc.

I am sure that I will start to feel better soon and must remind myself to rest, rest and not do too much.

I had tissue expanders placed under my existing chest muscles and from what I understand not as invasive as your operation. I can only imagine your pain and discomfort. I am glad to hear that you feel good and that you like your new breasts. That is important consideing all the pain and emotional trauma.

May I ask if you needed  to have other treatment after the mastectomy?

I am surprised at the size of my breasts after just the palcement of expanders and think that I may just need a little more volume added. I am also wondering if I should get nipples or just tattoo an little flower or something instead.

Thank you for your reply and I am so happy for you for being where you are now

    Love Carla

  • Glad to hear you're home. Hope your sleep has comfortable. I found it was lovely to be home but rather daunting as well. So be kind to yourself and don't try to do to much at first. Some gentle walking up and down for about 10 minutes and your exercises for your shoulders is quite enough. May I ask what type of reconstruction you had? Mine was DIEP/TRAM. It was supposed to be both DIEP but they couldn't get a good enough blood vessel on the right side so they did a free TRAM there. I'm now just over 13 weeks out and I feel fine. My tummy is still quite tight and a bit sore but I am really happy with my new breasts. I hope you are doing well. Love Janey xxx
