More surgery

Got the path results from last weeks surgery and it's all quite good.  The only thing I wasn't expecting was more surgery for positive margins and they also found 3 cm of high grade DCIS.  I still find it odd that all this never showed up on mammo.

So, back in to surgery tomorrow afternoon for round 2 . Im just getting over last week.  Determined to still have a good Xmas with my family though with lots of laughter.   The best medicine ever

  • I think you made the right decision in going for the mastectomy!  None of us want to go through this more than once.  Please keep us posted and all the best with recovery.  Take it easy on yourself and one step at a time, one day at a time.  Big hug x

  • Hi Nadine.  I've actually forgotten all about having breast cancer and getting pathology results. Lol.  It must be all the drugs I'm on. Haha.

I know you're struggling with neutrophils etc .  I really hope you get home soon and it all settles down.  What a slippery slide we're all on.  Keep your chin up ????

  • Hi Audrey

So glad that's all behind you now and that you came through it ok. It must be such a load off your mind and one less thing to worry about. I'll be keeping my finders crossed for you regarding the pathology. Hope you have a great new year's. Keep us posted re the results in the new few weeks.

All the best and take care

  • Hi all, I hope you all had a wonderful Xmas with family and friends.  It can be a really tiring time of year.

i ended up having a mastectomy. It was my choice although my surgeon desperately tried to change my mind.  Having positive margins and a new 3 cm area of high grade dcis from first lumpectomy I wasn't prepared to take any risks.   I'm happy with my decision.   Path results aren't in yet so I don't know what treatment will be needed yet.

I came home on Xmas day, had a wee bit of lunch then went to bed for the rest of the day.  Everyone was gone when I woke up.  All I want to do is sleep. Bc nurse said that having 2 surgerys in a week will do that.

I hope you all have a fantastic new year. I also wish everyone a gentle time with your treatments.
