Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy

We have Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy available in Launceston. Has anyone used Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy during treatment?
  • Hi Gerryb,

Thanks for your post about Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy. At this stage, there have been no randomised clinical trials looking at the benefits of this therapy in breast cancer. While there have been good results for Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy in wound healing, we don’t know the results in people with cancer. There are some concerns that it may speed up cancer growth.

You might like to talk to the people offering the Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy and ask for the research on their treatment and breast cancer. You should then take that information to your medical oncologist and have a discussion about whether it is a safe treatment for you.

  • When I was considering implants my dr wanted me to do this for 6 weeks prior to surgery as it apparently reduces the chance of infection. I didn't end up having that type of reconstruction so didn't have it. Have heard it does have many benefits though.
  • Interesting I noticed Shannon Dohurty does this as part of her Breast cancer treatment
  • Hi Jane221, yes initial cost is $55 and further sessions reduced price depending on how many you buy.
  • Hi Gerryb, would be keen to hear if this helps you should you decide to use it. Is there a cost involved?
