Not too sure if that is a marker of some sort, or perhaps titanium clips used to clamp off blood vessels during surgery. These titanium clips were used in me during surgery, and I only found out that they were there when I had an x ray for a frozen shoulder. When I questioned my surgeon about it at a check up, she brushed it off and said that they were very commonly used to clamp off bleeding vessels, that they were made of titanium, and would pose no problems for future MRIs, CT scans or airport metal detectors. Sheesh I was ticked off that I wasn't told, but that is another story.
