Menopause

its funny how things pop into your head in the middle of the night. After advice yet again please. I have been going through menopause for just over 2 years now and was taking the compound troches. My regular doctor never liked me being on them and after much persuasion I came off them and started using patches. Now they have found out I have bc I am not taking anything. Surprisingly I haven't had any symptoms back but what happens if I start getting hot flushes etc again. Do I just have to suck it up or can I be given something to help the menopause. Hope this makes sense

cheers, Louisa x

  • Hi Rowdy

Happy New Year to you, too.

Yes, the acupuncture was wonderful.  I cannot remember how many times I went, perhaps four, if that.

It is worth a go as it cannot do any harm.  As I said, I hate needles but being 'chubby' they were no issue at all.  I enjoyed the relaxation music as well !

That was several years ago.  I now live where there are limited mainstream medical services let alone natural therapies but my hot flushes have never returned to the same extent.  Instead of dripping wet and red red red I only get a wee bit pink and it goes as soon as it comes.   For the nights I have a glass of iced water beside the bed to sip but some nights it does not get touched.

    Good luck.  keep in touch.

  • Hi Summer did the acupuncturist really help, my hot flushes are terrible at night and waking me up. I'm ready to try anything. Happy new yearxx

  • Hi Louisa

I was menopausal prior to BC.  Was put on mainstream meds for 8 months but got off them and went onto the 'natural' stuff.  Not great.  Then went to an acupuncturist and the outcome was AMAZING.  I hate needles but found this was OK.

Now I have an icy cold water beside me to sip the moment I feel a hot flush beginning.

I was told by older ladies to 'layer' so there is always something to take off.  Today at 38 degrees that is not helping !!!  (Got the picture ??  Stop laughing !! ).

My acupuncturist was in Glen Waverley in Melbourne but I am sure you can find one near you who is experienced in this field.

Good luck - and stay cool.

    Summer  :-)
