Hi all you wonderful women!Just wondering why I have not been given any meds to take the night before chemo? I am triple negative and starting on 4 x AC every 2 weeks and then 4 x taxol every 2 weeks.Is it unusual that I haven't been prescribed anything or do I only need the dexmethasone before the taxol treatment????? Maybe I only take one pre med before AC?Also, would I be able to take a diazepam on the day of my treatment?Quietly freaking the F out......Any help appreciated xxxSam

Hi @Spiv1803 when I began AC I didn't get any pre meds to take at home either. You just get everything on the day and it's all given by IV fluids. Even the dexmethasone was given to me by IV. When I began taxol later on I was given pre meds. So don't stress it's normal

Hi there @Spiv1803 I had triple neg last year and was given oral meds just before they hooked me up. I had the Dex too but can't remember having an itchy arse!! I was pretty bent on all the phenergsn they gave me and slept through some of it. then the rest were all IV. Same for the taxol too from memory but they did I give me oral meds to take for 2 or three days after chemo. Plus I took ondansetron coloxyl and senna and then nexium as it gave me bad reflux so I was lucky didn't have the horrible vomiting some ladies have had on this forum just felt bllaah for a few days. Oh yeah and don't forget the shitty neulasta injections I had to give myself 24 hours post chemo. Ow they stung like a bitch but only for a few seconds. That stuff made my bones ache so took endone and warm baths for that but luckily it was only a couple days. Hope this helps. PM me anytime if you would like to chat more. Margie ❤️

Oh and by the way if you get the Dex by IV be prepared to get a itchy bum sensation haha. It only last for like 30 seconds but happens every time and is a common side effect. I remember trying to wiggle in the seat because it was so itchy

Might I suggest you ring your chemo nurses. They would have given you a phone number for questions and concerns. Don't be shy to use it. They want you to. It will put your mind at ease as I'm sure you're already anxious enough.

I had a tablet on the day, and one for 2 days after on A/C (three weekly). I begged off them when I was on Taxol, as I was never sick and the more frequent use caused constipation! Didn't have the worms though!!

Hi Sam, I had no meds day before for AC chemo, just a tablet that I had to get from pharmacy and take an hour before chemo, then dexes started after (The onc gave me the prescription on the day) - The next lot of chemo Dox - Hercepton, I started the dex's a couple of days before by memory.
