Mastectomy to reconstruction

Hi glemmis yer I choose to have other breast I c breast specialist in 6 months she said yer after chemotherapy my last is tomorrow no radiation to feel a women again is nice im small breast anyway all the best to you stay positive ur a strong lady xx

Hi @Nannatash, I am having that conversation at the moment with my team. I had mastectomy last August, finished chemo late Feb & finished radiation 2 weeks ago. My breast surgeon has referred me to a plastic surgeon who she will work with at the same time. She will do mastectomy on other side & he will do reconstruction of both. She thinks eight weeks after radiation is a good time but radiation oncologist says 6 months. I have to decide if I really want to have mastectomy on other side. Both radiation oncologist & medical oncologist are not keen so just trying to weigh it up at the moment. If you are not having radiation I would think you could have it when you are over the chemo but it would be up to your medical team.
