Mastectomy done

Hi!  I was like @Afraser - hardly any pain after mastectomy and they presumed I needed pain killers but my obs were soon normal and I settled quickly.  It sounds worse than what it is in my view!  Yes the breast is missing but so is what they were chasing that damned cancer!  They gave me a pillow and drain bag so when I had visitors I was in my PJs with a large scarf over my shoulders and draped across my breasts and drain bag underneath the scarf and the visitors were quizzical as it wasn't obvious - just how I like it!  Yes it was tiring but I wouldn't say painful, perhaps draining (ha ha!) - my drains came out on day 5.
Good luck and I am sure it is the anxiety of what it represents that is more of a concern for most.
