lymph nodes cancer

Hello

This is my first post and i have a quick question after a statement.

i had 18 Lymph nodes removed mid May 2015, 13 had cancer, i had petscan before operation and no other cancer evident.  chemotherapy has now been recommended.

Has anyone else had this type of diagnosis?

Cheers.

  • Hi GM

I had a left masectomy and 10 lymph nodes removed with 6 showing positive for cancer 5 weeks ago now. Although my body showed to be free of any cancer that can be seen there is still the unknown at a cellular level and the further chemo and radiation treatments are to help ensure that there is reduced chance of it coming back although as everything there is never a 100% guarantee. My thoughts is just to go with everything my oncologists recommends as they are the expert and also assist my body with healthy eating and daily exercise (which is no different to what I was doing but now that my body is going to be down and tired I am hoping to maintain some sort of light exercise). Everybody is different but ask your treatment team questions and sometimes I find I dont ask on the initial visit but then ask the next time. Best wishes Wendy.

Hi Gm, I'm currently undergoing chemo following mastectomy for lobular and ductal cancer, with 5 lymph nodes involved. Talking to all health professionals involved in my care, I've been encouraged that breast cancer is one of the more treatable cancers and that there are really positive outcomes happening. Have faith in all the wonderful people you have helping you with your treatment, they are the experts. This network is very supportive and helpful with little bits of advice. Good luck with your treatment, Tracey B xx

  • Hi Gm, I have.  I had a tumour and then 19 of 26 nodes had cancer.  I've had 6 months of chemo, a double mastectomy and recon and am about to start radiation.  My pathology after mastectomy showed all cancer was gone and only 14mm of precancerous cells after chemo so a good result!  Good luck with your treatment!
