Low level laser therapy and radiotherapy

I had laser therapy the other day to help sort out cording issues. While I was there, the physio mentioned that it was being used overseas in trials to promote healing during radiotherapy for breast cancer. She also mentioned that although there seems to be a reluctance here by the radiation oncologists to use it, she was aware of a couple of people who had done it. Has anyone on the network tried this or investigated it?
  • I had a number of LLLT sessions years ago to try to sort out cording and ecapsulation issues. I think it helped, one side responded very well.

My breast care nurse was one of the early LLLT practitioners. I haven't heard much about it lately, whether that is because it has fallen out of fashion or, more likely, the research and trial money has run out, I don't know. Worth a punt if you can find someone who does it. Mxx
  • I remember hearing something about that too but don't remember what.
  • Hi @Sister - I haven’t heard of laser therapy but I have read about hyperbaric oxygen treatment to assist with damage from radiation.
  • I did find a very positive report of a trial in Germany a couple of years ago by working solely on my gone at the moment so not sure what else may be out there.
  • Interesting, as a radiation therapist I have ever heard of it but it is a fast paced area and always new things happening!
