Lost my blogging mojo!!

Hello pink pretties. Lots to tell since Nov. Well.....not really. Same stuff different week.

Chemo was weekly for 12 weeks Taxol. Started early Dec and finished 5th March. Now continuing 3 weekly with Herceptin.  What can I say...OVER IT!

At first it was all a bit exciting. Thats my positive spin over the whole situation. I coped really well with it. No sickness at all. The only side affects were hair loss, pins and needles, weight gain and very tired.

I didnt go bald bald, my hair severely thinned so I cut my hair shorter, shorter and then GI Jane look. Again it was exciting.

But now........I have no eyelashes, very little eyebrows and I can't stand this hair, I feel so freakin fat and I just can't seem to drop any weight. I gained 13 kilos. I look bloody awful.

When I pack on the makeup and put on the wig, I look amazing. But who wants to do that every day. Not me. Over It!

I know I sound miserable....I am sometimes but then again as I always do......Keep smiling.

You have lunch with the girls today Kel....and a catch up with school friends tonight Kel.....Life is good!

Lets just not talk about me anymore.....OVER IT!

  • We all need to vent and this is the best place for it. I know exactly how you feel, I have put on weight through this process and it just doesn't shift. I love that my hair has grown but everytime a hair falls out I examine myslef as to am I loosing it again......

I think it takes some time for our selfesteme to return and its only natural all things considered.

I am joining a yoga class next week in the hope of helping me exersize and to find some inner peace.

    Take care

  • Thanks Robyn,

Sometimes I feel so damned fowl. I have this great big fake facade and I am forever saying how good I am. I have sometimes stood out in my yard and just screamed. Who really wants to hang out with a misery guts.

Even though I havent been on here for a bit, now I have let it out on paper so to speak...feeling lighter already.

  • Hi Kel,it's nice to see you back on here!I,know exactly what you mean about being 'over it'.I thought I was going great( and I am really)as my treatment is over, taking Tamoxifen ,going to gym classes and doing lots of exercise. This last week,we have had a gastro bug in our house, and I have spent 2 days vomiting and feeling really terrible.Yesterday,I felt a bit better and had to go to Westfield to buy a birthday present for one of our foster children.I was crossing the road outside the main entrance, and for some unknown reason I suddenly became aware that everyone around me looked normal and had hair! Only I looked like a freak! And a lopsided one at that, even if no one else knew it! I started crying, and rushed in through the main doors ,heading for the restroom, where I regained my composure!I get what you mean about in the beginning, its all new, whether it's bad or not.The headgear is different and looks good, until you get so damm sick of having to put something on your head every day.I reckon that most people feel like this to a certain degree, and after going through so much,it then takes another mammoth effort to get yourself back to where you were regarding weight, looks etc.Dont be too hard on yourself Kel.Treatment will finish, your hair will grow, and you will lose your gained kilos when you have the energy to do it.!Enjoy your lunch and catchup! xoxRobyn
