Looking to talk to any members with cerebral palsy

I would like to talk to you about whether chemo treatment caused your muscle strength to decrease while you where having treatment.

I also have a supra pubic catheter & I'm worried about a lowered immune system increasing my risk of infection, so if anyone has an SPC and can let me know their experiences I'd appreciate it.

  • I don't have cp but as a regular chemo patient I can say my muscle strength has only decreased pretty much when I have been lounging around in bed and not being up and about. I was very tired but eventually my strength came back. In terms of infection, yes you have to be quite careful. I have a box of surgical gloves if I am fiddling about with sensitive things and have a box of alcohol wipes in case I need them as well. I also got some face masks but really I haven't used them much apart from getting blood tests in a hospital after the first chemo which proved a good move as my resistance at that time was zero. I now suck a Strepsils antibacterial lozenge before I enter any where that might carry infections. So far its carried me in good stead.
