Just starting Chemo at the end of the month.
I am seeing my Oncologist for the first appointment on 20th Feb, and hope to start Chemo that week. I have a million questions to ask him, but hope to get a few things clear before I go in as I am ...
My portacath has made the whole chemo experience this time much more bearable. Unfortunately, there can be issues with them, mine won't work to draw blood. It has probably got a bit of a protein sheath on it which is not uncommon. It's OK for the chemo though so I'll suffer through the occasional blood test for the next couple of months rather than getting it replaced (probably clog up again, I'm the queen of scars and adhesions)
Ask your oncologist if you want to talk to a surgeon about getting one installed. I'd recommend it, despite the few problems I've had.
